Medical Weight Loss Medications

GLP-1 Medications (Semaglutide & Tirzepatide)

FDA Approval & Off-Label Use:
Our clinic prescribes the most appropriate medication for your health profile. Wegovy® (semaglutide) and Zepbound® (tirzepatide) are FDA-approved for weight management. Other medications, such as Ozempic® (semaglutide) and Mounjaro® (tirzepatide), are FDA-approved for type 2 diabetes but may be prescribed “off-label” for weight loss at a provider’s discretion.

SERIOUS WARNINGS:
GLP-1 medications, including semaglutide and tirzepatide, have a potential risk of thyroid C-cell tumors. Do not use these medications if you or your family have ever had medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), or if you have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).

Common Side Effects:
Nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, indigestion, and stomach pain.

Important Considerations:

  • These medications require medical supervision
  • Not suitable for individuals with certain thyroid conditions
  • Your provider will review your complete medical history before prescribing

Compounded GLP-1 Medications (Semaglutide & Tirzepatide)

Our clinic offers compounded versions of semaglutide and tirzepatide, which are prepared by state-licensed sterile compounding pharmacies. Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved, and the FDA does not verify their safety or effectiveness.

Common Side Effects:
Similar to FDA-approved GLP-1 medications and may include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, indigestion, and stomach pain.

Important Note:
Compounded medications contain the same active ingredients as their FDA-approved counterparts but are prepared in specialized compounding pharmacies to provide more affordable and accessible options.

Oral Tirzepatide (Compounded)

This is a compounded oral formulation of tirzepatide prepared by a state-licensed sterile compounding pharmacy. Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved, and the FDA does not verify their safety or effectiveness.

Similar to injectable tirzepatide and may include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, indigestion, and stomach pain.

Eligibility:
Only suitable for patients who have been taking injectable tirzepatide at 5mg or higher for at least 3 months.

Phentermine

Phentermine is an FDA-approved oral medication for short-term weight management.
